In accordance with the tasks specified in Article 7 of Executive Decree No. 11-396 of November 24, 2011, the Center is responsible for carrying out scientific research and technological development programs in the field of the environment aimed at solving problems related :  

• The preservation, development and enhancement of natural resources
• Evaluation and modeling of climate change and its impact on the environment
• The prevention of risks related to pollution and pollution control technologies
• The development of the green economy
• The management and the valorization of waste.

For the realization of its missions, the C.R.E is endowed with 04 divisions of researches to know:

•     Environment and Biodiversity.
•     Environment and Health.
•     Environment, Modelling and Climate Change
•     Environment and Eco-management of waste

Each division is made up of laboratories and research teams.

 The Center deals with, coordinates and manages all issues related to the environment and responds to the scientific, technological and socio-economic concerns of Algeria, especially those related to the creation of start-ups.
