Permanent researchers
Permanent researchers carry out scientific research and technological development activities in the framework of the objectives defined by the State strategy for scientific research. They are distributed on the following bodies:
- Research associates.
- Masters of research.
- Research directors.
- Emeritus research directors (honorary title).
The Research Associate is responsible for:
- Participate in the development of research projects related to his/her field of activity.
- Participate in the realization of research work entrusted to him/her in the framework of a research team or division.
- ensure the conduct of a scientific research and technological development project related to his/her field of activity.
- participate in the promotion and dissemination of scientific research results.
Are recruited as research assistants, by way of competition on titles and by decision of the head of the establishment, the holders of the diploma of magister or of a diploma recognized as equivalent. The diploma of magister delivered within the framework of the executive decree n° 98-254 of 24 Rabie Ethani 1419 corresponding to August 17, 1998, modified and completed, above mentioned, or the diploma recognized as equivalent must have been obtained at least with the mention enough good ».

The corps of research masters includes two (2) grades:
Research Master classe B :
Candidates holding a doctorate in science or a diploma recognized as equivalent are recruited to the grade of research assistant class B by competitive examination on the basis of their qualifications and by decision of the head of the institution, after consulting the Scientific Council.
The Senior Research Fellow Class B is responsible for:
- implement a scientific research and technological development axis related to his/her field of activity.
- to ensure the scientific management of research projects in his/her field of activity
- assisting senior researchers and research directors in their activities.
- contribute to the development and growth of new knowledge.
- to work for the increase of the capacities of comprehension and control of sciences and technologies and their transfer and application in all the sectors of activities.
- to develop the national capacities as regards studies, expertise and engineering.
- to participate in the realization of the great national projects for the transfer of know-how.
- to contribute to the valorization of the results of the research, to the acquisition and to the diffusion of the scientific and technical information and culture within the society.
Research Master classe A :
The following are recruited as class A research professors by decision of the head of the institution
- on the basis of qualifications, holders of a State doctorate or a diploma recognized as equivalent.
- on titles and works, the holders of a diploma of doctorate in sciences or of a diploma recognized equivalent justifying of five (5) years of professional experience in the speciality subsequent to the obtaining of this diploma, after opinion of the national commission of evaluation of the researchers.
The Senior Research Fellow Class A is responsible for:
- to elaborate and implement research projects in relation with the research orientation, programming and evaluation bodies
- to contribute, through its work, to the development and implementation of national research programs
- to work towards increasing the capacities of understanding and mastery of science and technology and their transfer and application in all sectors of activity.
- to work on the valorization and the diffusion of the results of research.
- to give expert advice on scientific and technological work, within the framework of national or international specialized scientific councils or committees.
- to contribute to the acquisition and dissemination of scientific and technical information and culture within society.
- to develop the national capacities as regards studies, expertise and engineering.
- to participate in the realization of the great national projects in order to transfer the know-how.

Are recruited, on the basis of qualifications and scientific work, as directors of research, after the opinion of the national commission for the evaluation of researchers, the holders of the State doctorate, or of a diploma recognized as equivalent or of a university habilitation, justifying five (5) years of professional experience in the speciality after the obtaining of the above-mentioned diploma or title. The supervisor is responsible for:
- to design and develop, through its research work, new theories, methods, processes, materials, devices, systems, equipment and facilities for the accomplishment of research missions
- to participate in the elaboration of national research programs, and in the evaluation of research.
- to work on the valorization and the diffusion of the results of scientific research.
- to participate in the realization of the great national projects in order to ensure the transfer of the know-how.
- To work for the increase of the capacities of comprehension and control of sciences and technologies and their transfer and application in all the sectors of activities.

A national commission of emeritus is created, composed of emeritus research directors. The national commission of emeritus is in charge of evaluating the scientific activities and publications of the candidates for the appointment as emeritus director.
The emeritus director of research is appointed, after the opinion of the national commission of emeritus, among the directors of research justifying of fifteen (15) years of effective exercise in this capacity and having contributed, since their appointment in the position or the grade of director of research:
- the development of knowledge, its transfer and application in companies.
- training for research and through research.
- the realization of research works, publications and national or international communications published in journals of established reputation.
- the dissemination of scientific and technical information and culture through periodicals, scientific and technical books.
In addition to the duties assigned to the research director, the research director emeritus is responsible for:
- participate in the selection and elaboration of scientific research and technological development programs and their evaluation.
- Participate in the determination of priority research areas.
- Participate in the increase of the capacities of adaptation of the imported technologies.
- to lead the work of seminars.
- to ensure missions of representation near the national or international authorities.
- to advise and guide researchers preparing their doctoral theses.
