Permanent researchers
Permanent researchers carry out scientific research and technological development activities as part of achieving the objectives defined by the State's strategy for scientific research. They are distributed across the following categories:
- Research Associates.
- Research Masters.
- Research Directors.
- Emeritus Research Directors (honorary title).
The Research Associate is responsible for:
- Participating in the development of research projects related to their field of activity.
- Contributing to the execution of research tasks assigned to them within a research team or division.
- Leading a scientific research and technological development project within their field of activity.
- Participating in the valorization and dissemination of scientific research results.
Research Associates are recruited through a competitive examination based on qualifications and by decision of the institution’s director. Candidates must hold a Magister degree or an equivalent recognized qualification. The Magister degree, awarded under Executive Decree No. 98-254 of 24 Rabie Ethani 1419, corresponding to August 17, 1998, as amended, or an equivalent recognized qualification, must have been obtained with at least a "fairly good" mention.

The corps of research masters includes two (2) grades:
Research Master classe B :
Candidates holding a doctorate in science or a diploma recognized as equivalent are recruited to the grade of research assistant class B by competitive examination on the basis of their qualifications and by decision of the head of the institution, after consulting the Scientific Council.
The Research Master Class B is responsible for:
- Implementing a scientific research and technological development axis related to their field of activity.
- Leading the scientific management of research projects in their field.
- Assisting Research Masters Class A and Research Directors in their activities.
- Contributing to the development and expansion of new knowledge.
- Working to increase the understanding and mastery of science and technology, and their transfer and application in all sectors of activity.
- Developing national capacities in studies, expertise, and engineering.
- Participating in the implementation of major national projects for the transfer of know-how.
- Contributing to the valorization of research results, as well as the acquisition and dissemination of scientific and technical information and culture within society.
Research Master classe A :
Research Masters Class A are recruited by decision of the institution’s director:
- Based on qualifications, candidates must hold a Doctorate of State or an equivalent recognized qualification.
- Based on qualifications and work experience, candidates must hold a PhD in science or an equivalent recognized qualification, with five (5) years of professional experience in the specialty after obtaining this degree, subject to the opinion of the national evaluation commission for researchers.
The Research Master Class A is responsible for:
- Developing and implementing research projects in collaboration with the bodies responsible for research orientation, programming, and evaluation.
- Contributing through their work to the development and implementation of national research programs.
- Working to enhance the understanding and mastery of science and technology, and their transfer and application across all sectors.
- Working towards the valorization and dissemination of research results.
- Providing expertise in scientific and technological work, within national or international specialized scientific advisory committees.
- Contributing to the acquisition and dissemination of scientific and technical information and culture within society.
- Developing national capacities in studies, expertise, and engineering.
- Participating in the realization of major national projects for the transfer of know-how.

Research Directors are recruited based on qualifications and scientific work, following the opinion of the national evaluation commission for researchers. Candidates must hold a Doctorate of State, or an equivalent recognized qualification, or a university habilitation, with five (5) years of professional experience in the specialty after obtaining the degree or title mentioned above The Research Director is responsible for:
- Designing and developing, through their research work, new theories, methods, processes, materials, devices, systems, equipment, and installations for the completion of research missions.
- Participating in the development of national research programs and the evaluation of research.
- Contributing to the valorization and dissemination of scientific research results.
- Participating in the implementation of major national projects to ensure the transfer of know-how.
- Working to enhance the understanding and mastery of science and technology, and their transfer and application across all sectors.

A National Emeritus Commission is established, composed of Emeritus Research Directors. The National Emeritus Commission is responsible for evaluating the activities and scientific publications of candidates for the title of Emeritus Research Director
The Emeritus Research Director is appointed, after consulting the National Emeritus Commission, from among the Research Directors who have at least fifteen (15) years of effective service in this capacity and who have contributed, since their appointment as a Research Director, to:
- The development of knowledge, its transfer, and application in companies.
- Training for research and through research.
- The realization of research work, publications, and national or international communications published in well-established journals.
- The dissemination of scientific and technical information and culture through periodicals, scientific and technical books.
In addition to the tasks assigned to the Research Director, the Emeritus Research Director is responsible for :
- Participating in the selection and development of scientific research and technological development programs and their evaluation.
- Contributing to the determination of priority research areas.
- Participating in the enhancement of the adaptability of imported technologies.
- Leading seminar work.
- Representing the institution at national or international bodies.
- Advising and guiding researchers preparing their doctoral theses.
